Earlier today I put out a call to social media for a painter decorator in the area. Hardly anyone replied with suggestions and it made me wonder if people are worried about going into people’s houses to work given the recent coronavirus pandemic.
I feel for people whose jobs revolved around them entering other people’s homes. Carers, tradesmen, doctors, teachers… the list goes on.
It was good to see that in the UK, there are helplines that have been set up to give professionals support and advice. A painter and decorator might struggle to keep up with the ever-changing sanctions and rules but there are places he can go to in order to get the advice he needs about working in homes once more.
We’ve all had to change the way we work, both in and out of our homes. You may find that if you hire a painter decorator for your home you can’t be in the room with them while they work, and they’ll have to use your toilet facilities to wash their hands regularly.
For some painter decorator jobs, of course, they won’t even need to enter the house at all. Exterior work can still be carried out as long as everyone continues to maintain a 2-metre distance at all times.
Don’t forget that your friendly painter decorator will still enjoy a cup of tea and biscuit, though you’ll have to make his brew in a disposable cup. If you follow the rules, stay two metres away and ensure all wear face masks inside the house, there’s no reason you can’t continue with your redecorating plans!
